What if tomorrow doesn't come?

Updated: Aug 2, 2022

I know, kind of a tragic title... still, a reality for many. Hello and welcome back my beautiful family. Thank you for joining and for being here with me. For this week's topic I decided to write about a reality that many face on a daily basis; the reality that today might just be the last day of our lives in this planet and, should this be the case... then what? What kind of life did we live? What's next? Should today is to be our last day... are we ready?

As always, I like to start the post with a video that summarizes our main topic and provides a different and interactive way for the message to 'click'. Ready? Let's watch it...

Did you see the video? What are your thoughts?

"Lost time is never found again"- unknown

In the blink of an eye...

A few days ago and while navigating through the internet I saw a "short documentary" video that caught my eye and I decided to take a look. The documentary was about the last day in this planet for 26 years old John E. Jones. The morning started just like any other day when John and some of his family members decided to go exploring the notoriously narrow cave system in Utah known as the "Nutty Putty Cave". You can search in the internet the story and everything that happened but, the short version is that what began like a fun family adventure, in the blink of an eye turned into tragedy. John was your young, had a family, was a medical student and most of his life was still ahead of him. After taking the wrong turn inside the cave he found himself in a very VERY narrow area where he got stuck... and never made it out. Multiple attempts and hours of rescue personnel were devoted to his rescue but he got stuck in an area where it was virtually impossible to rescue him... unfortunately, he eventually died due to his upside down position and never saw the sunlight again.

Of course, this is a very sad story and I have to admit that it did traumatize me a little... but I'm not trying to traumatize you or me even more... the point is that, just like John, many have woken up on a daily basis not realizing that they will never see another sunrise. In the sinful world that we live in, this can be mine or your reality any minute, any hour, any day. So what's the obvious conclusion? Make your life count NOW, TODAY... because tomorrow might just not come.

As christians we know from the Bible that, once we die, our heavenly records and our fate is sealed until Jesus' second coming; until judgement day. Given this, if you are alive and reading this then pray and ask God to tell you His plans for your life, live a life that resembles as best and close as possible that of Jesus, and honor God in everything you do. Your life will not only get exponentially better and peace will fill your heart, but you will live knowing that whatever the day may throw at you... God will be there with you and will reward you when he comes back.

I have met many christians that live a secular life and think that going to church for a few hours on Saturday (or worst, Sunday) will get them somewhere with God. No, I am not judging... that is God's job. I am, however, merely stating what the Bible says: a faith without works, is DEAD (see James 2:14-17). God doesn't want us to just go to church and tell whoever ask that we believe in Him, but He wants us to live a life of service and love towards others. He wants us to share His news with others and to be the beacon of light this society so desperately needs. None of us are perfect, but with God's help we can surely get closer.

Food for thought.

Jesus died for you... why not live for Him?
