One of my favorite verses in the Bible is found in the book of Psalms and it reads:
"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained, what is man that you are mindful of him?" - Psalms 8:3-4
We know that the book of Psalms was written by King David so I can only imagine him outside of his home and staring at the sky, looking at the majestic heavens, looking perhaps at the mountains far away, maybe even listening a nearby creek or river and feeling the fresh cold wind blowing by thinking: "there is no way God is nothing less than pure majesty and amazingness. There is so much in the universe that's so beautiful that He can create... yet, He's interested in our tiny and temporary lives. He's interested in what I do, what I say, what I think, what I eat... I mean, what is that about?". Have you felt like this before? I feel like that almost everyday.
Living in the beautiful state of Washington I stare at the snow capped mountains every day when I leave home and I stare at the skies, I see the sun come in the morning and penetrate through the fog, and God's creation is just so majestic that I am amazed at the love He has for us humans... a love that we certainly do not deserve. We do not deserve it, yet we have it. Such is the love of God for us. To live life thinking there is no good is foolishness (Psams 14:1) and its bringing misery upon ourselves. I have never been able to understand how can certain individuals look around and see the beauty that can still be found in this world and yet doubt that there is a God. Everything in this planet earth was tuned to perfection for our living, and even though sin has destroyed a lot, there are still plenty of reminders in nature that we come across in our day-to-day that reminds us that there is a loving God looking out for us.
David knew two things: (1) nature speaks to the majesty of God and (2) it also speaks as to the love of God to us. Do you know that God loves you? If not, look around and contemplate what surrounds you.
