Social Media Strikes Again

Not too long ago I found myself in "my zone" writing when I get a call we all dread... my wife was crying uncontrollably on the other side of the phone. Chills went up and down my spine, my brain was at 1,000% thinking about all the things that could have happened. Because she was crying I could not understand a word she was saying so I asked her to send me her location and I just started running...

I ran as fast as I could and when I got there, I hugged my wife and asked her what happened. By now she was better calmed and she goes on to explain what had happened. A woman in the street had thrown flammable liquid all over her and lighted herself on fire right dab in the middle of the city... in a busy street... for everyone to see. Out of desperation she goes to the nearest store to ask the guy for the store's fire estinguisher but the guy's response was: "that's not my problem... that's the police's problem". Very few people in the street actually trying to help... the vast majority were with their phones out trying to get extra likes and shares on their media platforms.

What is wrong with us? Are we at the point where likes, follows, and shares are worth more than life itself? Are we so disconnected from God and our inner moral compass that witnessing a person burn to death in our faces means nothing? Thankfully, a car stopped by and the people came out with jugs of water and were able to put the fire out before major tissue damage occurred but... what if they weren't around?

I am struggling to write this post because I genuinely have no words... I don't know what to say or how to convey my point. It pains me that that is the society we live in today. Let me put it this way: without God... WE ARE LOST. God continues to go out... with Him our morals, values, love, and appreciation for life. Join me in spreading God's message to the world... please. The world needs Him now more than ever.

Until next one,
