One of the things we human beings crave the most is relationships. We want to be heard, to have company, to be loved, to feel accepted. A look at social media comes to show the extent people are willing to go to for attention and that feeling of being validated. No matter how many times I sit down to read my bible, every time I open the book I learn something new or see something in a different light from before; today was no exception.
When I was in school I remember being friends with "the cool kids". Thanks to God and my home education I can honestly say I was never a "bully", but I did hanged out with some of those. A lesson I learned early in life is that, often times, people in high "cool" circles, in "elite" circles (or so they call them), like to be very particular and selective on who they let into their circles. Without a doubt, God is the elite of the elite. He is eternal, the Creator of the Universe, the King of everything there ever was or is, the Almighty and all-knowledgeable God... if there was ever a being with the right to be selective on who He lets into His circle, is God, yet, in the Bible we find this verse:
"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you..." - John 15:15
Meditate in this verse a little. God considers us friends. Isn't that extraordinarily amazing? You, my awesome friend, are considered a friend to God. You are loved by God. He has revealed to us His plans, His word, His goal for us. Of course, in order to be friends, there must be a mutual feeling between the parties. God wants to be your friend, the question is, would you let Him?
